Swept Back

How many face lifts has Wayne Newton had? His face is so tight that if he sneezes his ears would blow off. Some women like the swept back look for their hair, he has a swept back look for his face.

What's Next?

Florida allows deadly force for self-defense. Sounds like the old west to me. Here in Texas we can use firearms to defend ourselves, but not necessarily to the extend of death. I question Jeb Bush's reasoning on this issue. I can just see people brandishing weapons at each other for any reason. Wonder what the murder rate will be?

The Christian coalition has convinced Proctor and Gamble to pull sponsorship from two notable programs Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Will and Grace. They say these shows promote homosexual lifestyles. I dont watch Will and Grace very often, but I do frequently see Queer Eye and enjoy how the guys always improve the lives of the people they help.

I really dont understand where our country is going. What's next?

Let's Throw the Bums Out

What if we held an election and nobody voted? At the rate our elected officials are wasting our money why dont we just throw the bums out? Seems like every time the news comes on, there is a story of congressmen and senators being courted by lobbyist of one kind or another for one cause or another. Is anybody left in Washington and our state capitals who really cares what the average voter wants? They seem to spend a lot of time spending our money that leave most people wondering why we elected them. No wonder voter apathy is running rampant among those of us who feel that we being ignored because of all the big groups who have money.

End of Days?

Are we at the End of Days? Is the government being run by the Christian conservative lobby?Seems that they and George Bush are in agreement. They seem to influence decisions regarding everything from judges appointments, to a person's sex life. My life and what I do with it is my business. If I decide to have an abortion, it's my business, my sexual orientation is mine, not the government's. I have read the wildly popular Left Behind series and feel that some things put forth are occuring now.Is George Bush the false prophet? Or maybe worse. What about the Pope or Tony Blair? Our government seem to be moving to control our lives. They want to dictate to us, about us and for us.This powerful lobby wants to influence everything from judicial appointments to what we do in the privacy of our own homes. Remember that the false prophet lulled people into a sense of security by his smooth talk and promises. This lobby wants to clean up America. Included in this clean up, TV, Radio, PayTV as well as who should be foster parents and who should be married. There is even a group that is taking some popular movies and sanitizing them by editing out objectional scenes and language because they dont think this is good Christian entertainment. The government apparently is ok with this. Are you listening George Orwell? It has recently come to light that an obscure Irish saint hundreds of years ago predicted things including that the new Pope will be the last true pontiff, after that would come the false prophet leading to the Tribulation and End of Days. Watch Out America!

Texas Does It Again

Well our wonderful Texas politicos are at it again. They wasted my money deciding on the Official State Utensil. After much deliberation, they decided upon the dutch oven. Wonderful history the dutch oven has. Our great Texas settlers used this to make wonderful meals on the trail. Yeah, well I wonder how many tax dollars the Great State of Texas used to decide this!

If that was not enough then they are working on a bill to make it illegal for homosexuals to become foster parents. Since when does a person's sexual preference have any thing to do with what kind of foster parent he or she wound make? Do foster kids really care ? They just want someone to love and help them.

Silence

I've been getting the silent treatment from my younger daughter. She's always referred to herself as the good daughter, because she has always called me several times a week. Now she has two children ( two boys, 3 years and 2 months). She and her husband had this great idea (they thought) that she would move in with us to save money so they could go on vacation and later move to Austin. When I told her I didnot feel this was a good idea, she got upset. They live in El Paso where, she says, she cant get a job because she cant speak spanish. Cut to many spanish classes in high school. Good old mom nixed that idea. They really dont think things through and dont really have a grasp of reality. Ever since I told her it was not a good idea for her and the kids to move in here, she has been unhappy with me. I spoiled all their plans. What kind of a plan includes borrowing money to go on vacation? So, she has not called me in 2 weeks. Guess she is mad. Oh well, some day I hope she and her husband finally grow up. Till then, silence is golden

TaxTime

The taxman cometh, my money goeth. Seems like every year I get pushed to the limit. I am really tires of givimg my money to our wonderful government for them to squander it on pork belly politics and other things. A while back they said they were going to simplify the tax code. I'm still waiting. One time they wanted to save paper, as in the paper reduction act. Ha, now it takes three times more paper to do the same thing. Most people think the tax payments go to pay for the war, but in fact a great deal of it goes for things like medicare. The IRS has over 100,000 employees, the tax code has over 7,000,000 words and the 1040EZ has 33 pages of instructions. Why cant we just have a national sales tax. At least that way everyone would pay their fair share.

Take Me Out To The Ballgame

Spring is here-the Astros are playing. Maybe this year we will go all the way to the World Series. Most sports writers and opinion givers say the Astros will finish fourth. Oh you of little faith. Roger Clemens has said that it is time for the younger members of the team to step up to the plate and take charge. The Astros have the talent and it is time to prove that they can win. With Beltran and Kent gone and Biggio and Bagwell in the twilight of their careers, now would be the time to show the world. Most people dont really give the Astros a realistic chance, but the torch is ready to be passed. Let's hope the young guns are ready, I know the fans are.

It's Time To Go

Death is something we all must face. Why do some families have to tear each other apart. Losing a loved one is never easy, but there comes a time when a family must put aside their differences and allow the grief process to begin. It makes no sense to bar a parent from the deathbed or does it make sense to fight over the obvious. I hope that when I die my family will not fight over me. In the long run it serves no one well to allow bickering between people who profess love for an individual. One must cherise a loved one and not fight over who will and wont be allowed to visit a dying person.
